Spain, Marbella Visit, Marbella Central Plaza

Spain, Marbella, Marbella central plaza.

The central plaza in a obviously landscaped environment it stands out from the surrounding streets and roads because of its high standard of finish and materialquality. The central plaza runs from the main shopping street with its brand names and shop fronts to a heavily planted entrance which creates a buffer environment masking the two sites from one another. The entrance has a large welcoming fountain followed by and hiding a series of steps which lead to the central plaza. the central plaza slopes toward the sea and acts as a gateway between the hustle and commercial activity of the main shopping street to the relaxing beach environment.

The plazas central axis is lined with a series of sculptures some incorporating fountains but most appear to relate dirctly to the history. The central axis is fanked by opulant seating and terraced fountains running the full length of the site to the sea front exit of the plaza.

Overall the site is very opulant in appearance and has a nice quality in the way in which the two environments of the sea/beach front and the busy shopping areas have been given a buffer zone and a conduit to into both environments. There is in the material something quite lacking there are all high specification but used with such rigidity in a site which flows with people like the tide. Overall this is a pleasant clean cut open space.
